Three nonprofits partner to fund new breast cancer research

It’s The Journey, A Cure In Our Lifetime Atlanta, and Georgia CORE are collaborating to strengthen breast cancer research in Georgia through their 2019 Breast Cancer Research Partnership Award.

Collectively these organizations have awarded over $25 million for breast cancer care and research in Georgia. The 2019 joint partnership will award a single grant with an emphasis on triple negative and metastatic breast cancer.

Georgia CORE will manage a uniform process for scientific review of applications. The grant will be comprised of equal dollars from each party with a minimum of $75,000 and a maximum of $100,000.

It's The Journey is the producer of the Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, which raises over $1 million annually to support breast health and breast cancer programs, including research, throughout Georgia.

A Cure In Our Lifetime Atlanta’s mission is to fund innovative breast cancer research, provide resources for those who have breast cancer and promote breast health through education and outreach.

Georgia CORE is a public-private partnership that connects cancer care providers, leaders, organizations, and advocates.

Led by a Board of Directors of experts from cancer centers, hospitals and academic institutions, collaboration orchestrated by Georgia CORE improves access to personalized cancer care and support for patients, survivors and caregivers.

Investigators affiliated with Georgia-based institutions are encouraged to develop a sound, innovative research plan based on research priorities of the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health. Minority and women investigators are encouraged to apply. Collaboration among researchers, academic institutions or cancer-related organizations is highly valued.
